Sri Chirravuri Viswanath is actively involved in championing consumer advocacy and is also part of the Indian Administrative Service. He has held many senior positions within departments at both the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the Government of India. He was instrumental whilst in his position as Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forests in ratifying the Kyoto Protocol on climate change. As Joint Secretary of the department of Food and Public Distribution he drafted the National Food Security Bill.
