Guillermo Valles is the Director of the Division for International Trade in Goods and Services, and Commodities in United Nations Conference on Trade and Development since July 2011. Ambassador Valles is a career diplomat with over 35 years of professional experience. He served in different posts in Japan and Argentina and has been Ambassador to China, the European Union, Belgium, Luxemburg, the United Nations and World Trade Organisation in Geneva. He held several relevant political positions including that of Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay. He was the leading negotiator for several regional trade agreements. He graduated from the School of Law of the Universidad de la República in Uruguay.
