Marilena Lazzarini

Marilena founded IDEC, the Brazilian Institute for Consumer Defence, in 1987 and was CEO from 1996 to 2003. She is currently President of IDEC’s Board of Directors, member of Consumers International’s Council and volunteer at the Brazilian National Forum of Consumer Defense Organisations (FNECDC). Former President of CI and FNECDC, from 1983 to 1986 Marilena was also Executive Director of PROCON, the Consumers Protection Agency of São Paulo’s State Government. She has received several awards in recognition of her consumerist work, such as the Rhoda Karpatkin International Award. She is author and co-author of several publications and articles on consumer issues.
