Ambassador Azevedo joined the Brazilian Foreign Service in 1984 and has subsequently held senior postings to Washington, Mondevideo and Geneva. He is currently the Permanent Representative of Brazil to the World Trade Organisation and other international economic forums, after working as the head of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry’s Dispute Settlement Unit and chief litigator and WTO dispute settlement panellist. A frequent lecturer and writer on international economics, he will be investigating the links between trade and empowered consumers.
